FROM THE HEART OF DIN 56

Zumba session group 56 with Kampung Jijan's community

On 4th February 2018,group 56 have organised mega project for community service's subject.The mega project was held at Kampung Jijan which is in Kota Seriemas area.The team leader for this mega project already told us to get up early because our bus will pick us around 7.30 am.In the morning,all of us were ready and gather at the car park.All of us wore jersey that we made just for the mega project.

Group 56 participated well the zumba session. Everyone were enjoyed during the event.

After waiting for a few minutes,team leader and his committee gives some advise on what we will do when arrive at the 'kampung'.Then, we ride the bus and went to Kampung Jijan. We arrived at Kampung Jijan's field where there is a football field and Kampung Jijan's committee building.We start of the event with zumba session by one of the committee there.Everyone participated well because the zumba session were so fun.The session lasted for about 1 hour. We ate our breakfast after the zumba before each group went to their assign place. My group were assigned to help one of the villagers. We went to the house with a van because the road to this house is so narrow.
We arrived there and met the house owner who is an old lady who lives with her son but during our visit his son were not around.We introduced ourselves to her one by one and talked to her a bit before we do our work. We asked her how and what we can help her with, and she told us what to do. Our tasks are :

We divided our group into two group.One group will do work inside the house and another one will do outside the house.

Doing house chores

First,we took out some of the furniture in the house to make us easy to clean the floor.We took out the chairs,coffee table and carpets.Some of us will swipe the floor,cleaning the dishes at the kitchen and mopped the floor.

               

Cleaning the fan so that there's no dust on it.This will be done first before swiping the floor.

After mopped the floor,we arranged back the furniture and carpet.Everyone worked together so that we can finish early.

At the kitchen,our friends cleaning the dishes and the other wiped the dishes before putting it back onto the shelves.

While some of us were busy tidied up inside the house,others were working outside the house which is house compound.

This is the house compound.It's quite large because the owner house filled with flowers and plants.She loves gardening.We cleaned the flower pots such as throwing stagnant water to prevent from Aedes.I also watering the flowers because the weather were too hot on that day.After that, we together raking up leaves and gather it at one place.We couldn't burn all the leaves because that area is where the airplane take off.The house owner said that she could get fine by the authority if we burn the trash because the smoke will disturb the airplane route.So,we just leave it in one place.

All the activity above were being done by all of us in the group.We work together so that we can finished the tasks early.But we couldn't make it early because there's too much to do at the house.We learned that by working together we can reduce the work if we sort out each work among us.

Our leader are so good because he gives clear instruction on what to do and we followed it.One of us will took pictures with their phone as an evidence to put in the blog.

After done cleaning the house.We took a rest and had a small talk with the house owner.She even make us a drink as a token of what we do at her house.

Took a rest after cleaning outside the house.We ate an ice cream that been bought by one of our members.

 Had a drink at the kitchen.

Finished all of our tasks!

After finished,we went back to the committee hall and do the closing ceremony.The village head were so thankful to us and he hope that there will be more collaboration event from our college because he enjoyed to work with us.

For the conclusion,we have a great teamwork among the group members.We had so much fun together while doing this charity.Even though we were tired,but we learned a lot from this program which is helping those who in need.I love to work with this group because we understand each other,have so many personalities which we enjoyed each others company, and we dont have any hard feelings towards each other.If there's a problem,we tried to confront each other so that we can solve the problem.I think that's all from me.

Preparation for food selling (Part 2)

Welcome to part two of 'Preparation for food selling'.I've already wrote that our group prepared 'Kimbap' and traditional 'kuih'.Now,I will write about what our group have prepared for the upcoming mini project.There's one person in charge to make a poster.This poster is to attract more students come to our mini project food selling.We will paste it at hostel and cafe board so that people can see.First thing first,we decide what color to use,font and things that need to include in the poster.At the end,we decided to put important things in the poster such as :

                  ➤ Organizer

                  ➤ Venue  

                  ➤ Date & Time

                  ➤ Phone number

                  ➤ Menus

This is how our poster looks like for the finishing.

 On December 16th 2017,our mini project has been launched.This event started at 5 pm until 9 pm.After our class has finished,we went back to our hostel immediately to prepare all the things.I helped my friends to pitch up tent's roof.We already brought foods that we want to sell,exchange money and tables for our foods.

The event goes well.The bazaar were so crowded with students from different courses.They all were busy buying food that been sell by group 56.Our group leader try to attract customers by giving free sample of food.Some of them tried and they bought the foods.We were so grateful to those who bought from us.Besides,everyone from each group tried their best to get as many customers as possible.I think the most favorite food our group sell is moist chocolate cake.The cake are so moist with melted chocolate that makes all the students wants to have it for them.All of feedback that we received about moist chocolate cake were so impressive.Everyone wants a bite of it.There's so many people that want to repeat order for moist chocolate cake.Thankfully,our group manage to sell all the food for the day.We closed at 8.30 pm because it's getting late.Our group makes a good profit too.

This is one of our customer who's from our group 56 too.He said that he can't get enough of this moist chocolate cake because the cake is too tasty.He even asked us to sell again the chocolate cake.

The conclusion that I get from our bazaar is,we can do so many things as a charity to help people who in needs.Besides,we get to meet many people throughout this project.I feel blessed to be in this group and worked with my team members in order to achieve our goal.Thank you~

Preparation for food selling (Part 1)

For those who reading this entry,peace be upon you...

Welcome to this entry where I talked about what food my group had prepared and ongoing event during the Street Food Festival.On previous entry,I did told that my group selling 'Kimbap' and brownies.Actually,there's more that our group prepared.We prepared popcorn,moist chocolate cake,'mee kari','bihun sup','puteri ayu','popia cheese' and spaghetti carbonara.

 This is traditional kuih that is called 'Puteri ayu'.My friend made this by herself during weekend at her house.She brought along one of my group members to go to her house to help her prepared these kuih.Our group actually decided to add these because we think that we sell not so much food.Therefore,we add these kuih in our list.We decided to sell it in the morning before the class start as a breakfast for the students.

And this one is called 'Apam polka dot'.This is also made my group member.She loves to bake and so she volunteer herself to make these 'Apam polka dot'.But we make this in limited amount because we don't want it to be wasted if we make it too many.We packed these in one plastic that contain 5 pieces only.We sell it for RM1.50 .

For 'kimbap' we sell it 3 pieces for RM2.50 . It's a bit pricey because the price of seaweed is expensive.Other than that,the ingredients are all cheap.This 'kimbap' have been made by my group member.I helped her during making this 'kimbap' . The ingredients to make 'kimbap' are :

          🔺 Seaweed 

          🔺 Rice

          🔺 Margarine

          🔺 A little bit of salt

          🔺 Sausage

          🔺 Egg 

          🔺 Crab meat 

First,mix the margarine with rice until it feel sticky.Then,spread the seaweed and spread rice on it but not too much.After that,put a layer of egg slice,crab meat and sausage.Then,roll it until it become round enough but don't press to hard because the seaweed might break.Next,I cut the 'kimbap' into 9 pieces.During the cutting,I need to be careful because the seaweed might break if I press the knife too much.One of my team member will packed 3 pieces in 1 packet and sealed it.

This project makes me think that it gives us so much benefit.Such as cooking skill as we can see my friend prepared all the food.This subject teach us to develop teamwork skill.

In next entry,I'll continue this preparation for food selling.

The beginning of...

May peace be upon you~

For this second journal,I'm going to talk about the process of what we did.In the previous post,I already said that our group going to sell "Kimbap" , chocolate cake and also brownies. For the brownies, one of my team member manage to get supplier which happen to be her own friend.We decided to take one box of brownies as a first try.It's because we afraid that it couldn't sell well.As we all know,brownies are quite expensive which is why we only take one box.

For the brownies,we decided to do "door to door' sale.It's like we went to people house,and try to sell our brownies.First we did at female hostel only because we just have one box of brownies.Before we start selling,we had a group meeting at student hall.Each of us had tasks to do.One of the members,cut the brownies into a small pieces just like a dice.Then , I open a plastic and put only  pieces of brownies and my friend sealed it with a sealer machine.This two  pieces of brownies we sell it at RM2.50 per one pack. After we finished packed all the brownies,other members place it in a plastic container.Our treasurer already prepared a bottle of exchange money that fill with coins in case the customers gave a big amount of money.

Next,we start to sell the brownies starting from the 3rd floor.We went to the 3rd floor because student post basic mostly stayed at 3rd floor.We know for sure they will buy it because some of the students already asked when we will be selling food at hostel.Thank to God,there's so many customer in one day even though it's our first try and we finished selling the brownies.We also got a lot of positive feedback from the customer.They said even though it just two pieces,the brownies were really tasty.They already asked if they can repeat the order.Our first try were successful!

I have learned that in order to do something,we must not be afraid to fail.For example,our group tried to sell brownies even though we already know that brownies is really expensive.Fortunately,we did sold all of it.Apart from that,I also learn to be confident and more talkative.I'm such an introvert person.I don't really like to talk to someone unless I knew them.But,for my case I tried to talk to a lot of people in order to sell brownies.I have opened up a bit to other people who's are not my clique.

Intro

My name is Norzalika Bt Md Lazim. I am a student nursing from group 56 with matrix number 304153005 . The purpose I create this blog is for individual journal based on our group's project. 

I am from group 4 who's my leader is Afdhal Affandi. 

The picture above shown that our group were having a discussion on what to do with mini project of community service.Each of us gave ideas on how we should start selling food because it will make more money as student always feel hungry during night time. Besides, we also discussed on how we should get the source,who's to contact and target group for our sales.At the end of the discussion, our group decided to sell chocolate cake,"kimbap"( a Korean rice wrapped with seaweed) and brownies.

I think the objectives for this subject is to teach us,students,on how to manage community service and helps those who in need.As for me,I get to learn how to do a business and helping others at the same time.Each of us in the group took part in everything we do such as giving ideas,in charge in certain tasks and also did written proposal together.The leader and his assistant already gave role to each one of us.The only thing we need to do is,do our work according to our role.As for me,I am a supervisor.I need to super vice my group members work.If there's anything wrong,I have to tell them what is wrong and make sure everything is done properly.Apart from that,I also help other in selling the things.

From this subject,I think it's good for the students especially when it came to management skills.I have learned about teamwork. Whenever someone makes a mistake,we tried to help the person and also we keep exchanging the ideas as to improve our group sales and contribution to the subject itself.Besides,I learned about leadership. In this case, I have to monitor my teammates when they doing their work.At the same time, I have to point out mistake that they did and tried to fix it together so that we achieved the perfect work.For example,I helped my friend when doing the proposal.When there's an error in typing,I showed to them the right one.

As for now,I think that's it for my first journal.I have already shared what we did in the beginning.For the next journal,I will explain more details on what we have done.Thank you.
